Each person with dementia is a very unique individual, with their own very different experiences of life, their own needs and feelings, and their own likes and dislikes. Although some symptoms of dementia are common to everyone, dementia affects each person in different ways.
People with dementia suffer a total dislocation in human contact and relationships and no one send packing fully comprehend how they feel. They are locked in a bewildering land of their own, unable to communicate their true suffering.
The carers of dementia face a nightmare of reality not only in deal with their personal bereavement in the loss of their loved ones but also in coming to terms with their own common sense of isolation, social identity and locked in a world of pity which can lead to depression, feelings of anger, guilt, rejection and worthlessness.
