Accounting thesis

Accounting is basically the business practice that is designed to keep track of an entity’s funds, accounts and transactions between the business entity and other entities and its various stakeholders. The practice of accounting is as old as commerce but the modern practice of accounting can be traced back to the times of the Italian Renaissance, which saw the introduction of standardization and innovations that henceforth determined how accounting was to be practiced.

From that moment up to the current date, accounting has gained recognition as being very important part of commerce and the administration of businesses and has steadily gained popularity due to its utility to be applied as business strategy. It is with this in mind that accounting is studied up to the highest institutions of education and students are given many assignments such as the one that requires them to generate an accounting thesis.

There really is not a thing as generic accounting thesis but only accounting theses that are founded in particular environments and applications. Examples of these include regulatory and auditory regimes, management forecasts, investor issues, and strategic decisions, to mention but a few. Therefore, researching a thesis of accounting highly relies on where specific accounting focus of the researcher will interact with another discipline.

For instance, if a student’s settles for the study of how the accounting practices employed by a company affects the stock performance of the company, the research of the thesis will assume the form of gathering and comparing two sets of information so as to determine whether a correlation truly exists. However, if the students decide to study the objectivity of a certain auditor, the research for the thesis will entail examining different forms of data and these include information illustrating the conflict of auditors and situations of interests involving the auditors being studied.

Just as it is with writing other business papers, a thesis in accounting is guided by some general principles that dictate its structure. Normally the general structure of such a paper entails writing a problem statement followed by the introduction of the paper before delving into the literature review section of the paper. After the literature review section are the methodology section, the argument section, the conclusion section and the references section.

While drafting such a thesis, it is important to keep in mind that visual aide such as charts, and graphs might be important particularly in the data analysis section. These serve the role of supporting the information included in the paper.
